The Federal Environment Agency of Germany (UBA) is working as regulatory as well as scientific authority to protect the environmental health focusing on the investigation and assessment of chemicals. The legal framework is a series of regulations related both, to environmental protection strategies, to the environmental compartments air, water and soil, and to branches e.g. those emitting to the environment and to chemicals as potential pollutants including e.g. REACH, Biocide or Plant Protection Act, respectively.
