From freshwater to drinking water and food–human exposure to MPs

At SIAAP, ESR 15 will work on the settling of microplastics in freshwater using VICAS column. At ENPC, ESR15 will analyze the samples with µFTIR.
At DEL, ESR15 will do modelling the fate and transport of microplastics in freshwaters using the data from settling experiments done in Paris and MP analysis done on freshwater samples taken from Amsterdam canal network.

Objectives:
ESR15 will investigate MP with regard to public health and determine MP in matrices associated with human exposure, i.e., drinking water and freshwater-related food in order to provide an estimate of human exposure to MP. To this respect, ESR15 will determine if MP have contaminated the living environment of humans. The ultimate objective is to understand the potential exposure routes of MP for humans.
