UBT is a research-orientated campus university in the north of Bavaria, Germany and is ranked No 29 among 200 top universities younger than 50 years (THE ranking). Currently, nearly 13000 students are enrolled. UBT has established profile areas (PA) gathering researchers from different faculties working on interdisciplinary topics. Amongst those, Polymer & Colloid Science (PA-PC) takes a leading role with more than 40 PIs from 3 faculties. In addition, the University of Bayreuth Center of Ecology and, Environmental Research (BayCEER) is among the most prestigious Ecological research centres in Europe. Established in 2004, BayCEER supports its members with an excellent infrastructure for research activities and conference facilities consisting of several central laboratory units and a scientific office responsible for management of scientific and educational programmes.
