In this interactive online seminar series, we take a closer look at the wicked problem of plastic pollution and microplastics. Our speakers are experts in plastic pollution and have diverse backgrounds in academia, policy making, civil society and beyond. They provide unique perspectives on the causes and impacts of the problem and discuss solutions.
About the speaker:
Thomas Fruergaard Astrup is Professor at the Department of Environmental Engineering at the University of Denmark. He carries out research in collaboration with external partners, research institutions, industry and public authorities within waste and resources from households and industry. The research focuses on environmental aspects of resource recovery and management in society. His focus is on three main aspects of solid waste management and circular economy: 1) recovery of resources from waste, 2) circularity of resources and critical contaminants, and 3) sustainability modelling of circular resource systems.
